Sean Kadannged

My name is Sean Kadannged. I was born on March 2nd, 1989 in Yap, Federated States of Micronesia. In 2011, I received my Associate Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from College of Micronesia-Federated States of Micronesia. In 2011, I was employed by Yap State Office of Planning and Budget as an Assistant Grant Writer. Through learning and experiences on different topics by clients I've assisted in the past with their proposals, I became interested in learning more on topics concerning environment, health, youth empowerment, economic, gender equality, and political matters since those were mainly topics that were always connected with our daily life.

In 2012, I was appointed as one of the Trustee member to a newly established Non-Government Organization (NGO) called Tamil Resources Conservation Trust (TRCT). Tamil Resources Conservation Trust`s mission is to protect, manage and conserve all natural resources in Tamil municipality for betterment of the livelihood, food security and sustainability of natural resources for future generation of Tamil municipality and Yap State. I have been on the Board of Trustees for the TRCT. Recently, the Tamil Resources Conservation Trust has received funding for their project and operational cost under different grant sources to help develop a Management Plan and establish a Tamil Marine Conservation Area (MCA) aiming to help sustain marine species in Tamil municipality and Yap State. Currently, I am the Acting Grant Writer for Yap State and the Treasurer of Board of Trustees for Tamil Resources Conservation Trust (TRCT). Meanwhile, I have continued to focus and broaden my research and studying towards sustainable development, watershed and terrestrial conservation, and related activities as it is in my field of interest, and because I think it will be beneficial Tamil Municipality, Yap State, and Federated States of Micronesia as a whole. In my spare time, I like doing various things; reading, web browsing, socializing, learning new things and participating in cultural activities. I also like visiting new places, learning new things and meeting new people. I also scuba dive when time permits.

I believe that after this fellowship program I can contribute to my community and the environment. I am looking forward to finally meet, learn and network with other participants for this year`s round of Australia Awards Fellowship Program. Thank you.
