Peter Wood

My name is Peter Wood and I am a volunteer with the Sustainable Island Project. I was born in Australia. I am married, to Kerin, and have two children. I am now retired.

My working life of 40 years was with the Department of Civil Aviation and Air Services Australia during which time I worked with the mechanical maintenance of equipment, beginning my career in the workshops and working my way to State inspector where I was responsible for the managing of staff. My work included the maintenance of diesel power generators, air conditioning, radar sites, emergency crash launches and airport fire vehicles. My retirement activities include driving a small bus for a community centre involved in supporting non English speaking elderly Australians (Greek, Arabic, Italian and Asian) to socialise outside their home environment. I also volunteer in a restoration capacity on Cockatoo Island which is in Sydney Harbour. We rebuild old shipbuilding equipment. My other interests include oil painting and gardening.

I look forward to meeting the participants in the Sustainable Island Project.
