Moutu Barairai

I am currently working as a Construction Engineer for the Ministry of Line and Phoenix Islands Development on Christmas Island. This island is under the Republic of Kiribati and it is one of the remote islands in the Pacific.

The main tasks of my division within the ministry is to deal with construction works both on new government projects as well as renovation work to government houses. Our important role is to ensure that every construction works is carried out according to the Kiribati National Building codes that were approved by the House of Parliament in 2004.

I am very happy to be one of the participants for the Australian Awards Fellowships Training. I am sure the training will provide us with good understanding on sustainable developments to small and remote islands like Christmas Island.
